anything really

makes sense to me…

Alright heres the story.  At ALC Emily and I were partnered up to find 3 similarities with each other.  Wanting to not go with the generic… we are both asian we both have arms and we are both human… we decided to find some deeper, trickier similarities.  I can’t remember the first 2 but the 3rd one was a moment of profoundness… and the similarity is:

We are BOTH opposite genders.

Alright so i am writing this post to see if this makes sense to anyone else.  Because it makes sense in my mind.   Please comment with your thoughts.  I shall discuss as the comments go along =D

Fine Dining

Wednesday night Voltage’s 2nd annual Year 12 Graduation Dinner.

This year we decided to go with a more homely feel so instead of going out we had a nice 3 course dinner on the balcony of the Wong Residence.

The day began with shopping for the food we would cook for the night. We went way overtime with the shopping, about an hour overtime. We then cooked and prepared the dining area from about 3:30 – 6:30pm.

The dining area was situated on the Balcony of Wong Palace. a table seating 15 diners was decorated with glimmering candles, glitter and flowers. The centre piece was 2 golden candles. The area was surrounded with many more candles.

The menu is as follows:

Snacks:

  • Crackers Topped with an Assortment of Marinated Tuna Pieces
  • Cherrios wrapped in a layer of Puff Pastry
  • Assortment of Crackers, sliced carrots and celery with a French Onion Dipp

Appetizer:

  • Creamy Fresh Pumpkin Soup topped with Croutons

Main:

  • Freshly Cooked Spaghetti Pasta topped with a Tomato, Onion and Garlic Bolognese Sauce

OR

  • Creamy Tuna Bake

with a side of Salad and Grilled Chicken seasoned with Garlic, Salt & Pepper

Dessert:

  • Vanilla Ice-cream drizzled with a topping of Chocolate sauce topped off with a bar of creamy milk chocolate with a fluffy whipped chocolate centre

Drinks:

  • Maison: Supreme or Lambrusco
  • Fruit Punch
  • Chilled Water

Sound good? Is your mouth watering yet =D. Well Torch came along and he said our food passed his taste buds so thats awesome! But it was just a great night of fellowship and casual dining and also giving Lucy, Nick, Liz and myself the opportunity to serve not just our year 12 graduates but also our current voltage members. After we dined the year 12’s shared about how their lives have changed in their time with Voltage and left some parting words for the rest of the group. We then took some fun photos, suspect but fun and it was time to leave, bout 1.5 hours later than we had planned =D.

Congratulations to Donovan, Anton, Daniel and Wesley.

predictable:

Last night was the Australian Idol Grand Final at the Opera house and once again the predictable has happened.  Matt Corby Favourite to win since his very first audition… lost to Natalie Gouchi.

I knew it, i called it from his very first audition “I get the feeling his not gonna win.  He’ll do really well but he won’t win”

But his has to be one of the best auditions i’ve heard on idol (and props to the guitaring skillz, anyone want to teach me how to play it =D)

in other news, K-Rudd/Kevin 07 won the election.  Ok so I am not so much shocked that he won i am more shocked at how fast the ballots were counted!  Kevin Rudd officially won at 11pm saturday.  The same day we voted… what the?  I can’t help but think its rigged.  What ever happened to the news saying Rudd 60% Howard 40%.  Strange haha… but i couldn’t help but feel sorry for Johnny.  Not only did he lose the election he also lost his seat in parliament to some labour Chick.  Honestly i almost cried when he was speaking coz i could see that his heart had been torn apart but gained alot of respect for him because i could see his passion.  I mean he’d been serving this country for 11 years.  But the time has come to move on i guess.

living.

God spoke 3 clear things to me today at the seminar:

What does it mean when I say “My Saviour Lives”?
That my God is not bound to death, but is alive; a living God

What is the cost of living for this cause?
Everything

What must I offer Christ as a sacrifice?
My present self.
Not my past self nor my future self
Not my skills or my talents
Not my dreams and desires
But my present self
Because i want to be a living sacrifice unto the Lord
I no longer live as who I was and
who I am going to be does not exist yet.
I want to offer who I am today, everyday because today i am living

Freedom brings a smile

The other night after work i desperately needed to fill up my car with petrol because i had forgotten to do it on tuesday night (which is usually the cheapest night for petrol prices).  Wednesday is a strange day for petrol prices and this wednesday was no exception.

Firstly on the way to work at 1045am the petrol prices were pretty low, about 113.8c but due to me being late for work i opt to wait till after work, praying that the prices would stay low.  Well just before i finished work the guy taking the next shift came in and i asked him the price of the petrol on the way here and he said about 115c.  I was so relieved so i got my car keys, wallet etc met up with Lozza in the food court and off we went home with a petrol stop on the way.

We passed the first petrol station and as i pulled in i looked at the price and my jaw dropped as the sign said 125.7c!!!!  I quickly pulled out of that petrol station and continued on from shell to BP near warrigal road. That one was a whooping 127c!  So i opted for the cheaper less known brand of petrol station neumann which was 116 but i remembered freedom down logan road which has that cheap 95 petrol or something.  It was 116 as well but something else happened that put this station above the rest.

I pulled in next to a petrol pump and suddenly my door opened i turned around in a slight state of shock to see a bloke asking me “would ya like to fill her up?”  In my state of confusion i just said yeap and he asked how much or a full tank?  I responded with $55 please.  He went around to the tank stuck in the pump and off it went.  He then came back around to offer an oil & water check but i was fine with just the petrol.  Lorene and I sat in the car very confused yet very excited and happy.  After the tank was full i paid the man he closed my door and off i went with a full tank of gas and i didnt even have to open my door.

Lorene compared the experience to a malaysian petrol station.  I have never experienced that kind of service at any Australian servo let alone in most places (resturants, retail stores etc).  It really makes me want to buy petrol from there everyday!  I’m not sure if they do it for everyone or just in the low peak periods but if you want to experience some good service go to Freedom on Logan road for ya next filL!
