If God had a blog…

what would he blog about?

what if?

I’ve been thinking lately about my calling from God and God’s calling from others.  I can honestly say that I can easily get caught up in jealousy and envy.  “why does my calling seem so much smaller than their calling?  why does everyone make a big deal about their purpose and not my purpose?”

But God has been helping me rid of pride and replace it with humilty.  Then this thought crossed my mind

“What if God’s highest calling wasn’t to impact a nation, change the world or influence world wide media or even your city.  What if your calling was to impact your community or local church?  would you still humbley persue it with everything you got?”

Honestly right now I would probably be pretty bummed by it but at the end of the day when we stand before God he isn’t gonna ask us how big our sphere of influence was… his gonna ask us how much of our purpose he had for us on earth was fulfilled.  I really don’t want to miss the mark but i really don’t want to be so far off the mark that i was never even shooting in the right place.

God keep me posted on your plans for me please!

i was apart of that-

Today i got the opportunity to catch up with a  friend who used to come to ablaze back in the cooparoo hall days.  I hadn’t seen this guy in probably a year or 2 but knew him well enough to know that he… struggled.

I caught up with im on MSN and we had always planned to meet up but things would come up or the “i’ll call you in the week to confirm” call would never happen.  But today we finally met up and man was I blessed beyond belief!

God has worked on this guy and he shared with me how it finally clicked, after struggling in school and going off the rails after skool… that God loves him and it’s God’s grace that will save him and so 6 months ago he made the decision to accept Christ as his Lord and Saviour.  Hearing him share and seeing his hunger for God after 6 months blew me away.  In Australia we think that a 6 month Christian can’t be that on fire or be that capable to lead but right then and there my perspective was changed.  With the right guidance mixed with a passion and hunger for God anything is possible.

But he also shared that his time in Ablaze helped ground him and actually helped him make the decision to go to Backflip organised by SU as opposed to schoolies at the GC.  And that Ablaze helped plant that seed of God in His life.  So in a way i couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride for being apart of investing in his life.  I hear stories about people that come to church fall away and then come back and thank the person that sacrificed their heart and soul into them.  I honestly have been wanting that same experience but before it was to fuel my pride… this time i wasn’t expecting it (as I usually asked God to catch me in a moment of … un-pride) and I was extremely humbled to know that … I was apart of planting that seed.

One of our key drive home points for the HS ministry was Teamwork

a win for one is a win for all

and today instead of feeling like “HEY THATS MY SEED, I PLANTED IT, DID ALL THE HARD WORK AND SOME OTHER CHURCH HAS JUST REAPED IT!”  i felt like “Hey God thats awesome!  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see my investment flourish in your kingdom!”

I learnt today that we aren’t in control.  I may invest into someone because i see their potential but ultimate only God can change their heart.  My purpose maybe to plant the seed and reap the fruit… but my purpose may be to just plant the seed and never see the fruit… or to reap the fruit of someone elses investment.  But if you put it all into perspective of the universal church… it is all the same thing because we are all serving and living for the same God.
