anything really

youth empowered

Tonight 3 of our ignite boys responded on their own accord to the call for Baptism of the Holy Spirit at Church Conference.

My heart litterally sank when I saw Joseph come down the front, followed by Jeff and Kenten.

Nick, Tina and myself prayed for them and I believe they were Baptised by the HS!  It was really a groundbreaking moment for me!

Acts 2:16-18

16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17” ‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.

Man, God empower the youth today with your Spirit!

Michael Jackson

So this morning while driving to pick up Anthony for school and to collect some equipment for Ablaze Confernece an odd conversation on the radio caught my immediate attention.

hahahaha, Michael Jackson has died from cardiac arrest early this afternoon in LA

Naturally shocked and also a bit skeptical because of the laughing I flicked through the various radio stations to find out if it was just another radio station joke or if it was really true.  Low and behold B105 also made the same passing comment.

When I got home I switched on the TV and with news coverage happening on every channel that has the capacity to show the news, was showing the news.  Michael Jackson is Dead… or so it seems… the world is still waiting for an offical statement from the UCLA hospital.

But throughout it all, yea I’m in a state of shock… It feels like alot of tradegies or world changing breakthroughs or once in a lifetime events have happened in this generation… but probably just me… but i can’t help but feel two things after watching the endless news reports this morning

  1. Wow… the dude really did influence the world… like not metaphorically or in a western culture, but I truly believe that Michael Jackson literally changed the face of music across the globe.
  2. This guys funeral is gonna be epic.  But I can’t help but feel a little annoyed that the world can make such an effort to mourn the death of one person, while there are so many people out there dying simply because they have nothing.

I wish the world cared for the people who have nothing, as much as the people who need nothing

I know I may be insensitive but sorry, I guess I can’t justify the fact that we care more about one celebrity dying than we do about 1000’s of young kids dying simply coz they have no choice and actually the most concerning thing for me was hearing that Michael Jackson might have converted to Islam not to long ago.

But MJ I respect your contribution to this world.

btw one of my all time favourite songs is Michael Jackon – Remember the Time!

I MISSED YOU!

Man oh man it has been beyond epic the past month!

So much has happened, so many moments of hopelessness, so many moments of procrastination, so many moments of victory, so many moments of disbelief, so many moments of just sitting back in ya chair and saying… “what the hell am I doing?”

Only to crescendo into a world of sleepless nights, endless anxiety, scribbled paper, open textbooks, memorisation, memorisation, memorisation and then despair and then the need to move on.

The past month has truly been a great test of my character before God, and although I didn’t ace the test I thank God that He caused me to cling onto him so much more tighter.

But here are some observations i made on the way:

  1. There is no such thing as a clean room or study space during SWOTVAC
  2. Coffee cups missing from the kitchen?  It’s because they are all on your desk
  3. iTunes is never turned off
  4. Hand written study notes go from being neat, written in straight lines to scribble and written in diagonal lines
  5. Study notes extend to half way through the semester, the rest is just read off the computer screen

But man today I finished my final exam for the semester!!! and man ended the day with the most EPIC movie in a long-time… TRANSFORMERS 2!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND SLEEP MY OLD FRIEND!!!! I MISSED YOU!!! WELCOME HOME!!!!

no reason to celebrate

The recent outbreak of Swine Flu or influenze H1N1 has got the whole world on super-hyper-hygiene mode.

The swine flu has come to Brisbane hitting schools like Brisbane Girls Grammar, Christian Outreach College and UQ with the reponse to the infection being 7 days quarantine aka 7 day’s of no school due to one person’s infection.  Now let me admit that when I heard about this action plan I had hoped that my exams for Uni would be postponed and being really disappointed that they were still on i had a little bit of a grumble about it.

But today COC found out that a student from the international college as well as a primary school student have caught the infamous swine flu and hence school is out for the next 7 days.  As you would expect, students are celebrating updating their facebook status’, msn nicknames and personal messages, probably twittering and just letting everyone who is an unaffected school know that “you shoulda come to COC.”

I had jealousy issues when my brother told me but on a walk to my drop some stuff off at my grandma’s place the Holy Spirit corrected my attitude and gave me a disappointment in the way others we’re treating the matter.

Swine flu is nothing to celebrate over or even want to have in your school.  Swine flu is not just causing suffering for the the person physically but by being quarantined, im sure emotionally as well and when they come back to school or into society they will probably never heard the end of it.  Swine flu is causing worldwide panic, fear is striking the hearts of people as they fear for their health.

Hearing things like “thanks for taking one for the team” and “Swine flu :D ” are really starting to annoy me.  What a selfish attitude to have, what if you were the one with the raging fever, tiredness, coughs, chills, muscle aches and shortness of breath?

As Christians we shouldn’t be singing our praises for something that obviously isn’t praiseworthy.  We should be getting down on our knees and declaring that God You are in control, asking God to heal the sick and protect those who are still healthy and interceding on behalf of our nation for God to rid of the disease.

If Jesus was around I don’t think he’d be running around happy about it, he’d be running around praying against it.

Dear Lord,

Forgive me for my attitude, for wanting something to happen that would cause someone physical suffering.  I pray that you heal and protect the people that are infected with the swine flu and protect those around them or those who have been in contact with them from contracting the disease.
Protect your children from being infected.  We trust in Your sovereignty and thank you for sacrifice on the cross.

Amen.

so…

Read this comment about  a video i found on youtube

“All things have been created trough him?? Now geif proof plx! Text dosn’t make me belive anything. Still very nice vid but the text is stupid IMO. I belive that someone came up with god and jeasus and all this because they want a good excuse for us to not live like normal animals. They want a reason for us to not just eat, sleep and propagate but we are ment to do so, just that we changed the way of living. I don’t belive in god, so where is my punishment? Still I show you respect for doing so.”

I can’t help but want to ask… so… what do you live for?

Ablaze Conference tip no#4

Ablaze Conference tip no#4

Be creative, step out of the box, do something different.  If something is sentimental but ineffective well I think its time to move on.  Just because something has been done that way for the past 3, 4, 6 years doesn’t mean we have to keep it.  Breath fresh, relevant, God-inspired ideas into your ministry not old, past, self-inspired ideas.

Program with a clean-slate.  Paint with a blank canvas.  Worship without inhibition.  Pray with boldness.  Live by faith.  Love with intent.  Walk in freedom.

bling

ok so this is probably super unspiritual but DAYM God’s crib was blinged to the max!  pretty gangsta

Exodus 38 (MSG)

21-23 This is an inventory of The Dwelling that housed The Testimony drawn up by order of Moses for the work of the Levites under Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest. Bezalel, the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything that God had commanded Moses. Working with Bezalel was Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an artisan, designer, and embroiderer in blue, purple, and scarlet fabrics and fine linen.

24 Gold. The total amount of gold used in construction of the Sanctuary, all of it contributed freely, weighed out at 1,900 pounds according to the Sanctuary standard.

25-28 Silver. The silver from those in the community who were registered in the census came to 6,437 pounds according to the Sanctuary standard—that amounted to a beka, or half-shekel, for every registered person aged twenty and over, a total of 603,550 men. They used the three and one-quarter tons of silver to cast the bases for the Sanctuary and for the hangings, one hundred bases at sixty-four pounds each. They used the remaining thirty-seven pounds to make the connecting hooks on the posts, and the caps and bands for the posts.

29-31 Bronze. The bronze that was brought in weighed 4,522 pounds. It was used to make the door of the Tent of Meeting, the Bronze Altar with its bronze grating, all the utensils of the Altar, the bases around the Courtyard, the bases for the gate of the Courtyard, and all the pegs for The Dwelling and the Courtyard.

p.s. i really don’t know what I’m supposed to learn from these past few chapters, besides God can be very exact in his instructions to us at times?  I do remember church seminar (i think) about the reasons for some of the things was really interesting and amazing, the amount of symbolism in every detail.  All to foreshadow Christ!

p.p.s.s. i wonder where all this gold is now… God can i have a map to it =D jks jks
